November 13th, 2007

With the advent of the online education, the university degrees become more accessible and more popular among the people. With every year more and more universities offer the online educational programs in different directions and different levels of preparation. Because of a large selection of offers, it is quite difficult to find the best and the most appropriate variant.

There are two main types of the educational institutions, which offer the online education – the universities with the physical campuses and the universities, which provides exceptionally online education. The online – only universities sometimes offer the single courses, but are generally focused on the degree programs. The universities with physical campuses provide the degree programs and the single courses. The curriculum of the online studying in such universities is usually the same as in the traditional universities.

There are many questions and doubts concerning the peculiarities of the online education. The main question is about the preparation and the experience of the teachers. The future students are interested in the ration of the graduate assistants and the professors in the university staff. It is very important, because this ratio influences a lot on the quality of the education.

The next thing, which is very important for the online students, is the contact with the other students. There are two types of programs – those, which the student learns independently and those, which the student learns with the group. The both types are very convenient and effective and the choice depends only on the particular students and on the preferable style of studying.

The next important thing is the accreditation. The accreditation of the university confirms the value of the diploma on the labour market and its recognition by the employers. The online universities are usually accredited by the government bodies and the local authorities.

There are also several facts, which must be learned: the offered courses, the prices for the education, the system of payment, the provided software and additional materials, the duration of the studying and many others.
