Health and Safety Distance learning has many great available options. In the U.S. its demand is really high. Government’s regulations get wider and stricter ensuring the workplaces are safe and healthy. If you are interested in Health and Safety learning, you may become a Specialist or a Technician. Of course there are some requirements. You should first of all be responsible and concerned about the safety of society. Such career is rewarding.

Make sure you do not confuse Health and Safety with Safety Engineering. The first field is Occupational. The second one is a branch of engineering. The field of Health and Safety is scientific; it could be called medical and technical. You may become a Bachelor, get an Associate or a Graduate degree in Safety and health using online or distance modes. There also are some available Certificate courses (for undergraduates and graduates).

If your aim is to become Health and Safety Specialist, then Bachelors degree is the minimum qualification for you. You should also have a firm background in Medicine and Science. Professional certifications are various: CSP – Certified Safety Professional; CIH – Certified Industrial Hygienist; OHST – Occupational Safety and Health Technologist etc. Pay attention that you’ll be required to pass stringent examinations.

It is interesting that Safety and Health discipline is fast growing. This field is concerned with health and safety of many people: customers, employees and the public. Most of the companies have Health and Safety programs. Litigation should be avoided. Such programs serve to deal with various criminal and civil laws.

Specialists and Technicians may work in private or Federal/State/Local firms. Experience in Health and Safety becomes a prerequisite for the employment. This may be your experience in one of allied fields: chemistry, engineering or biology. If you work distance learning turns out to be the best option.
